What Are The Benefits of a Liquid Multivitamin?

No matter where you are currently at in your life, your doctor has likely recommended that you take a multivitamin at some point. There are lots of different reasons for taking a multivitamin, especially if you have a deficiency in certain nutrients, a pre-existing health condition that affects your diet, or if your lifestyle drastically impacts your nutrient intake. For example, vegans may be more likely to develop a vitamin B12 deficiency, as this nutrient is typically found only in animal products. However, truth be told, everyone can benefit from adding a multivitamin to their routine, regardless of extenuating circumstances like these.

The reason that just about anyone can benefit from a multivitamin stems largely from the overall purpose of multivitamins, which is to fill in common nutritional gaps that may form in a person’s diet. The decline in food quality in recent years coupled with the busy nature of work, school, and family life are more than enough to interrupt even the most carefully thought out meal plans. Taking a liquid multivitamin is a convenient way to combat these issues and give yourself peace of mind knowing that both you and your loved ones are always consuming enough of the essential daily vitamins and minerals, such as vitamins A, D, E, and K, the B complex vitamins, zinc, selenium, calcium, and more. Let’s take a moment to explore just a few of the potential benefits you may experience while regularly using a liquid multivitamin.

Boost Your Energy Levels

Eating a poor, unbalanced diet often causes the nutritional gaps that we mentioned to form. As a result of these gaps, your body may begin to feel weaker, majorly slashing your usual energy levels. You may have experience with this, especially if you have ever had a particularly hectic week and had to eat fast food for a few nights in a row. Taking a multivitamin on a regular basis may help to counteract this depletion of energy by making sure that your body always has a healthy amount of the nutrients it needs in order to operate smoothly throughout the day without any hiccups or exhaustion.

Additionally, many multivitamins contain the B complex vitamins, which includes vitamin B12. This spunky nutrient is well-known for its ability to boost energy levels as well. In fact, many people have begun to reach for a vitamin B12 supplement in place of their afternoon coffee in an attempt to combat that 2pm feeling without the need to resort to caffeine and extra sugars. The way that vitamin B12 is able to provide energy is likely because of its involvement with your metabolism, helping cells convert food into the energy needed to fuel your body (1).

Help Out Your Skin

Multivitamins contain a variety of nutrients that may have a positive impact on your skin. Vitamins A and E are both antioxidants, which protect the cells in your body from free radicals. Free radicals have been known to damage skin by breaking down collagen, the main source of structural support for the organ. This can speed up or increase the signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots while also creating blemishes at the surface of the skin. Vitamins A and E work to fend off these attackers and preserve your skin’s health.

Zinc is a trace mineral that you will likely find in your multivitamin as well. An anti-inflammatory agent, zinc is a great treatment for acne, eczema, and other skin conditions, reducing the redness and irritation commonly associated with such illnesses (2). Additionally, the wound healing process in general could not occur without healthy amounts of zinc in your body, particularly at the surface level of your skin.

Improve Your Mood

B complex vitamins, the same family containing vitamin B12 that we mentioned earlier, are generally required to keep your mood where you want it to be. The reason for this is that a number of these nutrients, vitamin B12 included, play a part in the production of mood-regulating hormones such as serotonin and dopamine (3). Without healthy amounts of the B complex vitamins in your system, it may be more difficult for your brain to produce the regulating hormones that you need, drastically impacting your mood and dragging you down. Taking a multivitamin that contains B complex vitamins may be able to help combat the symptoms of depression and other mental illnesses that involve a lack of mood regulators and a higher amount of negative or irregular moods.
