What Are The Advantages Of Liquid Children's Vitamins?
It is essential that every human being provides their body with enough nutrients on a daily basis. These nutrients most often come from your diet in the form of various foods, but, with food quality declining in recent years and hectic schedules getting in the way of meal planning, it can be difficult to make sure your diet is always balanced enough to include every single nutrient your body needs. This is where supplements like liquid multivitamins come in handy.
The body’s nutritional requirements are largely the same across most age groups, meaning that children and adults alike can benefit from taking a multivitamin alongside a well-balanced diet. However, there are some factors in children’s lives that can make it more difficult for them to gain as many nutrients as adults. One of the most notable of these factors is the tendency for kids to shy away from healthy items, from fruits and vegetables to meats and even dairy products. Supplementing their diets with a multivitamin can be a great way to make sure they receive enough nutrients on a regular basis even during picky eating phases.
When selecting a multivitamin for your family, the choices typically center around pills, gummies, and liquids. Keep in mind that you should always consult with your physician before making the final decision about which supplement is best for yourself and your loved ones. When you are still early in the process though, picking between the different types of vitamins alone can feel like a difficult decision. We believe that children’s liquid vitamins are the best among the usual choices for three reasons: no fillers, better absorption, and less fuss with picky eaters.
No Fillers or Unnecessary Additives
An extremely popular choice for children’s vitamins tends to be gummy vitamins. They taste good, and children may even enjoy taking them, as they often have a similar taste and texture to candy. However, many gummy vitamins have been shown to contain a large amount of artificial fillers and additives, including food dyes and high fructose corn syrup, as well as a high sugar content (1). Not to mention, they often offer less actual nutrition than other forms of supplements, even despite what may be listed on their labels.
Liquid vitamins like Better Family’s Liquid Daily, on the other hand, have no added sugars or artificial food coloring. In fact, the rich, vibrant color of our product comes from an organic fruit blend that contains a proprietary mix of antioxidant-rich elderberries and superfruits. Liquid Daily also provides only the highest quality formats of each type of vitamin, ranging from vitamins A, E, D, and K, to the B vitamins as well. All ingredients in our formula are organic and present in healthy amounts that will adhere to both you and your children’s dietary needs.
Most people, including children, will likely benefit more from taking their multivitamin in a liquid format as opposed to solid. Both options normally contain similar ingredients in similar amounts. However, the nutrients in a solid supplement are locked inside a barrier that must first be digested before your body can even begin the process of absorbing the micronutrients it contains. This extra step of digestion greatly slows down the process, sometimes causing all or part of your dosage to exit your body before it has been fully absorbed (2).
Liquid multivitamins, on the other hand, circumvent this problem entirely. The nutrients inside a liquid multivitamin are already present in their liquid forms, meaning that absorption can begin right away and occurs much faster and more efficiently as compared to solid supplements. Efficient absorption is extremely important to ensure that your child receives a healthy dosage of nutrients from their multivitamin. Liquid supplements may be especially helpful for any children (or adults) suffering from digestive issues that may slow down the absorption process even more.
Sneak Past Picky Eaters
Aside from just better ingredients and absorption, liquid vitamins have an added degree of convenience as well. Many children may experience dysphagia or have an aversion to taking pills in general. A liquid supplement is much easier to swallow, and, in some cases, can even be administered sublingually to avoid swallowing entirely. If you choose to give your children their liquid vitamins sublingually, you should first make sure the supplement was designed to be administered in such a way. Then, simply place the proper dosage beneath their tongue to be absorbed directly.
Another way to entice even the pickiest of eaters into taking their liquid multivitamin is to add it to their favorite beverage. Whether it be juice or a smoothie, most beverages will mask the presence of a liquid vitamin entirely, allowing savvy parents to sneak a little bit of added nutrition into their children’s diets. As your child becomes more comfortable with different types of food and drinks, you can gradually introduce them to taking the multivitamin by itself and use it as a learning opportunity to teach them about proper nutrition and consuming supplements safely.
